Confindustria Ceramica and the Emilia-Romagna regional government have signed a memorandum regarding the processing of AIA (Integrated Environmental Authorisation) Reports for companies located in the Sassuolo ceramic cluster.

Each year, the energy and environmental impact of industrial products and processes is analysed according to 35 indicators.

The analysis reveals the Italian ceramic industry’s competitiveness in terms of environmental sustainability.

Thanks to the numerous measures introduced to improve efficiency and the adoption of cogeneration and photovoltaic systems, 80% of factories now achieve consumption levels below the values of the Best Available Techniques (BAT).

97% of manufacturing sites recycle all their wastewater, thereby reducing the quantity of water drawn from reservoirs and aquifers and lowering the risk of pollution.

A total of 99.9% of all fired and unfired processing waste is now reused, reducing the consumption of natural raw materials.

The adoption of state-of-the-art treatment and recycling systems has reduced the levels of polluting emissions over the years.

Emission levels for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and aldehydes are now below the legal limits and industry-specific BAT levels.
