Italian Ceramics showcase Made in Italy in Copenhagen
(June 2026) – The Made in Italy Day, celebrated on 26 May at the Residence of the Italian Embassy in Copenhagen, was dedicated to Italian ceramics, placing the sector at the centre of an event that offered the Danish public a tangible insight into a tradition that combines manufacturing expertise, design culture and innovation.
Following welcome remarks by Giuliana Del Papa, Ambassador of Italy to Denmark, the programme opened with a presentation by architect and designer Alfonso Femia, Founder and President of Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia and an Italian Design Ambassador appointed by ADI. During his lecture, The Intelligence of Ceramics, Femia reflected on the role of ceramics in contemporary architecture, highlighting how, once integrated into a project, ceramics transcend their decorative function to become an essential element of architectural design and an active participant in the dialogue with the surrounding space.

The event concluded with a screening of Ceramics of Italy. A Journey into Sustainability, a documentary by Esmeralda Calabria that explores the contemporary dimension of the Italian ceramic industry through its places, production processes and the people whose expertise contributes to its excellence every day.
