Ceramics of Italy in London for Clerkenwell Design Week 2026
(May 2026) – Ceramics of Italy returned to London from 19 to 21 May for Clerkenwell Design Week 2026, a standout event in the international design calendar, when a selection of Italy’s top ceramic manufacturers participated in a collective exhibit showcasing the innovation, creativity and craftsmanship for which the sector is renowned.
Housed within a temporary pavilion in St John’s Square in the centre of Clerkenwell – the beating heart of London’s creative scene – the meticulously curated Ceramics of Italy pavilion presented the latest collections of tiles, surfaces and ceramic solutions for architecture and interior design. The exhibit aimed to create a link between manufacturing tradition and contemporary design vision, fostering dialogue between Italian companies and international architects, designers and industry professionals.
Thirteen Italian ceramic companies exhibited collectively under the Ceramics of Italy banner: Casalgrande Padana, Ceramica Sant’Agostino, Ceramiche Keope, Ceramiche Marca Corona, Ceramiche Refin, Ceramiche Settecento, Cooperativa Ceramica d’Imola, Decoratori Bassanesi, Gresmalt, La Faenza, SIMAS, Supergres and Tonalite.
The initiative was promoted by Confindustria Ceramica and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), underlining their shared commitment to supporting Made in Italy in international markets. The three-day programme of workshops, meetings with architects and designers and networking events offered a unique opportunity to explore the quality and versatility of Italian ceramics in a dynamic international setting.
One of the highlights of the week’s events was the talk “From surface to system: how Italian ceramics shape contemporary architecture”, which took place on May 20 at Yotel London City. Introduced by Angelo Dall’Aglio (Ceramics of Italy), the talk was curated and moderated by design consultant Daniel Gava and included presentations by Francesco Casella (Director, KPF London) and Laura Marcheggiano (Specialist Advisor, Global Materials Team, Arup).
