The iconic Fjordenhus – literally „fjord house“ in Danish – provided the inspiration for the Kirk Kapital investment company’s new offices in Copenhagen. Located close to Tuborg Harbour, it is a multi-storey building overlooking the capital’s waterfront with typically Nordic minimalist architecture that contrasts creatively with the original interior design conceived by the practice Lulu Mosquito. Designed to convey the brand’s values and corporate image, it is inspired by the raw natural appeal of the four elements water, earth, fire and wind. These elements make up a palette of colours and materials that are combined in highly original arrangements, while the delicate transparencies of glass and the warmth of fabrics create patterns that identify the functions of the workspaces. Materials are also the common thread linking the architecture and the interiors, both of which are interpreted through a language that combines glass with the bold textures of the raw concrete used for the floors and columns, the warmth of wood chosen to clad part of the interior partitions and the burnished brass of the light fittings. Wood and leather dominate the furnishings in the lounge area and the more secluded workspaces, which stand out for their sleek sophistication.
Lea Ceramiche contributed to this sophisticated project thanks to its distinctive, visually striking products and flexible and innovative installation solutions. The Slimtech Take Care concrete-effect porcelain collection was selected for the flooring in the new offices, chosen in the T-Ground Naturale colour with a smooth, trowelled effect that combines the look of resin and concrete and is enhanced by the inclusion of materials with varying degrees of reflectivity. Together with the almost velvet tactility of its surface, this creates original iridescent effects that vary according to the angle of incidence of the light. The floor tiles were installed using the Slimtech Easy glueless dry laying system, a certified and highly sustainable solution that combines speed with high quality results, eliminating the need for demolition work and significantly reducing installation time and costs. Thanks to the use of ultra-thin Slimtech Plus panels, this technology can be used to create a new, hard-wearing porcelain tiled floor with a total thickness of just 7 mm that is particularly suitable for indoor office spaces. The panels are installed directly on the Silent purpose-designed sound-absorbing mat, then sealed with a special filler (available in the two versions Fast and Matt) which makes them stable, immediately walkable and waterproof.
