Set in a panoramic lakefront location in Paratico, the L’Approdo Restaurant-Pizzeria is a three-storey building with stepped terraces overlooking Lake Iseo. The town itself, located at the southern tip of the lake and close to the Franciacorta wine region, is a popular destination for boating enthusiasts and lovers of outdoor sports such as rowing, diving and sailing.
Reflecting this leisure and tourist location, the restaurant offers a welcoming yet refined atmosphere for dining and relaxation. Its large arched windows offer spectacular views of the lake, filling the interiors with warm natural light and providing guests with an immersive experience of the lakeside setting. The recent expansion – conceived by the owners during the Covid pandemic – was entrusted to Margherita Corna from the flooring company Hausfloor. She chose porcelain tiles from Panaria Ceramica for their combination of aesthetics and practicality, coordinating them with the sage-green wood panelling in the main dining room and the paintings that reflect the owners’ passion for art. In the central dining room, the owners chose a wood-effect floor to bring a fresh, natural feel to the restaurant. As well as being simple and attractive, the surface also needed to be thin and durable to withstand the movement of diners and furniture, particularly tables and chairs.
For this reason, Corna selected tiles from the Borealis collection in the Donegal version (sizes 20×180 cm and 30×180 cm, thickness 10.5 mm) for their vibrant wood look combined with ease of cleaning and hygiene. “The material was chosen for its affinity with natural wood, while ensuring durability and a high level of hygiene,” explains Corna.
The natural theme continues in the bathrooms, where ceramic surfaces take centre stage. Ultra-thin laminated porcelain panels from the Glam collection reinterpret the look of wallpaper to create dreamlike spaces, a kind of vertical garden that enhances a sense of continuity across walls and floors. Glam combines the timeless elegance of wallpaper with the advantages of ceramics, most notably practicality, strength, lightness and durability.
Reinforced with fibreglass for unparalleled strength, the Greenwall version (50×100 cm, thickness 3.5 mm) captures the essence of living nature in five modules that join seamlessly to create a striking visual effect.
