Kołobrzeg: elegance and wellness on the Baltic Sea
Overlooking the Baltic Sea in the port of Kołobrzeg, the Nadmorskie Tarasy complex is one of the most exclusive residential developments on the Polish coast. Located at the intersection of Towarowa and Obrońców Westerplatte streets, just a short walk from the beach, pier and lighthouse, it combines modern comfort, contemporary design and a prime location. It offers a high-end living experience, ideal both for short seaside breaks and as a property investment in one of Poland’s best-known coastal and spa resorts.
The six-storey Nadmorskie Tarasy complex stands out for its large windows, panoramic terraces and high-quality finishes. Thanks to the use of natural materials and warm tones inspired by sand and wood, its architecture blends harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. Residents enjoy extensive communal wellness and leisure spaces, including an indoor swimming pool, fitness area, spa with saunas and whirlpools, panoramic terraces, landscaped zones and children’s play areas.
The ground-floor swimming pool and sauna area, completed between 2018 and 2019, was designed by Studio Nomo, a Poznań-based practice founded by interior designers Joanna Bozacka and Piotr Sudak, who have more than 20 years of experience.
The 635-square-metre interiors blend in perfectly with the architecture of the building, using the same materials and colour palette to create a sense of visual and stylistic continuity between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The result is a sophisticated, inviting space that fits in with the natural identity of the Baltic coast thanks to its clean lines, carefully chosen materials and harmonious colours. Inspired by the morphology of the local beaches, the interiors alternate matt and glossy finishes, combine textured surfaces with neutral shades of beige, light grey and white, and add touches of blue to create an immersive, elegant and warm atmosphere.
Lighting plays a key role: full-height windows maintain visual continuity with the exterior, allowing daylight to filter in and reflect off the water and the ceiling, which is treated with a partly glossy finish to enhance the sense of depth. In the evening, backlighting and a system of spotlights illuminate the surfaces, adding dynamism and luminosity throughout the space.
Porcelain stoneware tiles in the colour Dragon Beige from Casalgrande Padana’s Amazzonia collection enhance the architectural experience. Used for the pool decking, saunas, walls, stairway to the relaxation area and the handcrafted pool edging, they coordinate with the vibrant blue and turquoise of the mosaic pool tiles. Joanna Bozacka and Piotr Sudak emphasised the importance of the tiles: “Evoking the beauty of the Baltic beaches was a key design principle that we achieved through the use of Amazzonia tiles. With their warm sandy tone and natural raw texture, they form the foundation for the project, unifying all spaces and providing a neutral backdrop against which the other materials stand out.”
The integration of the tiles with the drainage system and poolside fittings ensures a refined, uniform finish where the technical elements are barely visible.
