Did you know that Italian ceramic tiles are more sustainable than other flooring materials?

This is demonstrated by the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) carried out by the Department of Engineering of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

The study determined the environmental performance of a number of indoor flooring materials based on a cradle-to-grave approach.

The LCA methodology considered the entire life cycle of the flooring materials, from raw material extraction through to final disposal.

This is because the sustainability of a product is determined not only by its constituent materials but also by its supply chain, production process and daily use.

The LCA study compared Italian ceramic tile, marble, resin, linoleum, carpet and parquet.

Italian ceramic tile was found to be the material with the lowest environmental impact and the ideal choice for safeguarding the health and well-being of end users.
