Mapei sponsors LP Racing in the 2026 GT2 European Series
Mapei announces its partnership with the Italian team LP Racing for the 2026 season of the GT2 European Series, a motorsport championship for amateur and professional drivers.
Founded by Luca Pirri and based in Monza, LP Racing will compete with two Maserati MC20 GT2s — 630 hp cars capable of reaching 300 km/h — across five iconic circuits in four European countries: Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal. The Mapei logo will appear on both cars, on the drivers’ suits and on their fire-resistant clothing. Brand visibility will also be ensured on pit boards, in the team’s set-ups, on interview backdrops, in the team’s hospitality area and across all the team’s communication, media and social media materials. This will provide Mapei with extensive exposure at the national and European levels , with all championship races broadcast live on the GTWorld YouTube channel, which has over 850,000 subscribers. Additionally, the partnership includes a hospitality programme dedicated to customers, offering them an exclusive experience to follow the races up close.
“Sport has always been in Mapei’s DNA: it has taught us the value of sacrifice, tenacity and teamwork,” says Marco Squinzi, CEO of Mapei. “The partnership with LP Racing places us on a European stage, that allows us to stay close to our customers even outside Italy. We are two organisations that share the same passion for excellence, and we can’t wait to experience it together, race after race.”
For 2026, LP Racing will be able to count on a line-up of the highest calibre. Driving the No. 1 Maserati MC20 GT2 will be Philippe Prette, a Monegasque driver competing under the Italian flag, and the reigning champion for the second consecutive year in the AM class of the GT2 European Series, with 41 career victories and 73 podium finishes to his name. In the No. 8 Maserati MC20 GT2, competing in the PRO-AM category, American Thomas Yu Lee, the 2025 FIA Formula 4 South East Asia champion, will share the driving duties with Italian Niccolò Pirri, a young talent selected for the 2026 GT2 Academy and already the youngest driver to have raced in the Maserati MC20 GT2.
“We are pleased to begin this partnership with Mapei, a company that is a global leader,” adds Luca Pirri, team manager at LP Racing. “Thanks to its long-standing tradition across various sporting disciplines, we have found a partner with a solid and consistent vision, capable of supporting excellence in very different contexts. For us, values such as fairness, commitment, dedication and resilience, together with a strong team spirit, have been crucial over the years. We believe that sharing these principles provides a solid foundation for building a path to success together, and we hope to celebrate significant achievements starting from this very season.”
The 2026 GT2 European Series championship programme will kick off on 30–31 May in Monza, the historic home of Italian motorsport, and then continue on 20–21 June in Belgium with Spa Speedweek. The third round will take place on 18–19 July in Misano, before moving to the Netherlands for the Zandvoort race on 19–20 September. The season will conclude on 17–18 October in Portimão, Portugal.
Mapei and the LP Racing team are thus preparing to experience five spectacular events together on Europe’s most iconic circuits.
