The Naantali Housing Fair in Finland is a unique event where visitors from all over the world come to explore an entire residential village made up of sustainable, innovative and stylish buildings. One of the highlights of the 2022 show was Talo Pukkila, a temporary house designed by the eponymous ceramic tile distributor and featuring products from the Cerdisa Ricchetti Group’s collections. Built as part of the housing fair held in Lounatuuli, the Pukkila House is a temporary one-floor atrium-style wooden building intended for use by couples and families with children. It displays a number of typically Nordic architectural styles and material choices, while the highly functional interiors combine the simplicity of contemporary design with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The entrance to the house is entirely barrier-free as the traditional front steps have been replaced by a gently-sloping ramp leading to the spacious interiors. The entrance opens directly onto a large living area that also includes an essential but complete open kitchen in which wood panelling contrasts with grey coloured furniture and upholstery. From here, the rooms are laid out along a corridor that leads to a master bedroom and two guest rooms, the bathroom area, a patio and a spectacular glass-enclosed sauna in a large relaxation area.
With the exception of the master bedroom, all the floors in the Pukkila House are tiled with porcelain, a choice based on a number of design and functional criteria including ease of cleaning, durability and sustainability. Ceramic tiles maintain their beauty over time, and today’s production technologies make porcelain ideal for use in projects with a low environmental footprint. Some of the most prestigious collections from the Cerdisa Ricchetti Group were chosen for this exhibit, most notably the Megeve collection in a Rovere (oak) finish which blends in perfectly with the forest landscape surrounding the town of Naantali. They also serve to emphasise one of the themes of the project, namely the close connection between interiors and exteriors. The most extensively used tile in Pukkila House is the Golden Pure collection from Ricchetti, chosen here in the Saint Laurent colour in black glossy lapped and natural surface finishes and a variety of sizes. Its natural elegance is enhanced by the golden streaks running across its surface which create a pleasing contrast to the wood-effect flooring, while in the bathroom and living areas these patterns are complemented by Cerdisa’s Metal Design series in the colour Brass. The bedrooms of Pukkila House are imbued with an emotional, dreamlike atmosphere created by the Roberto Cavalli Home Luxury Tiles collections from Cerdisa. Chosen in the Tiger Wood finish from the Wild Spirit Collection, these tiles give the rooms powerful visual appeal in conjunction with the carefully balanced LED lighting.
