Located in the resort town of Csopak, close to the famous Lake Balaton, Buborék Csopak (Bed-Bike-Bread) is a highly unconventional concept that combines food, creativity, hospitality and practicality. Here, the aroma of freshly baked bread and croissants mingles with the scents of nature, and the comfort of a hotel stay goes hand-in-hand with the thrill of a cycle ride.

Located in a formerly abandoned building that was completely renovated in the summer of 2022, Buborék Csopak combines multiple functions under one roof. It houses a French-style bistro with an in-house bakery producing artisanal bread and pastries every day, a bicycle shop for adults and children providing repair services, and six spacious, modern hotel rooms. True to its name – Buborék means “bubble” in Hungarian – it also offers a curated selection of champagne and prosecco.

Founded by a young couple from Budapest with nature lovers and cyclists in mind, the venue was brought to life by interior designers Eszter Bertóty and Edit Móder. Its contemporary, minimalist look blends Scandinavian atmospheres with Mediterranean touches. Organised into functional, welcoming spaces, the interiors feature modern furnishings, original details – such as bicycles mounted on the walls or standing alongside the tables – and a predominance of natural materials and neutral tones. One such example is the choice of tiles from Ceramica Fondovalle’s Res Art collection, a resin-effect porcelain stoneware with a glossy, patinaed relief texture. This effect, reminiscent of hand-trowelled resin, gives the surfaces a pleasant touch and a distinctive and original character.

At Buborék Csopak, Res Art tiles were used in a 5×30 cm size and installed in an alternation of three soft, powdery tones (Talc, Pottery and Mud) to clad various features, from the large central fireplace to the bathroom walls and the eye-catching bakery counter. The intensity and warmth of ceramic – a material at once simple and artistically rich – enhances the overall impact of the design and makes the venue truly memorable.
