B/W Residence is an oasis of peace in bustling Bangkok. “The owner wanted to transform their home into a modern, open and spacious dwelling, but also one with a strong sense of privacy,” explain the architects from ACA, who led the project. The result is a dream villa with a serene, secluded atmosphere. “We worked closely with the client to translate their discreet, delicate personality into architecture. We chose soft, natural materials, warm neutral tones, refined furnishings and a careful balance of natural and artificial lighting. We took every element into account to achieve a subtle harmony between openness and privacy, making the space personal and serene.”

The architects preserved as much of the existing foundations as possible, “both to minimise the impact of construction and to respect the original structure. Our aim was to create an open, airy and bright living space. To achieve this, we introduced a new steel structure rising from the existing foundations. This allowed us to open up the interiors without intrusive columns interrupting the sightlines. We integrated this structure into the façade design, creating a slender, panel-like element that visually lightens the building and reinforces the connection with the garden. The result is both structurally efficient and architecturally elegant.”

The villa maintains a strong dialogue with the outdoors: “In a dense urban setting such as Bangkok, preserving a connection with nature while ensuring privacy is both a challenge and a necessity. For the owner, greenery was essential, but so was a sense of isolation from the surrounding neighbourhood. To achieve this balance, we studied the spatial relationships and experimented with the proportions of the architectural elements. By using walls of varying widths, lengths and heights, we created distinct zones while allowing visual and spatial openness. The living areas flow naturally towards the garden and pool, forging a bond with nature while safeguarding privacy.”

One of the chosen materials is the Flow ceramic tile collection from Coem: “Together with the client, we selected materials that would recreate a feeling of calm and serenity. For the interior flooring, we wanted something that would convey the natural beauty of stone while ensuring greater sustainability. Coem’s Flow collection, with its refined texture and delicate shades, met our needs perfectly.” Sustainability was the guiding principle for the entire project: “Rather than following trends, we focused on creating a home that would remain contemporary and functional over time. We selected durable, low-maintenance elements such as extruded aluminium façades, glass cladding, steel canopies and stone-effect ceramic tiles for both floors and walls. By prioritising materials with long life cycles and a low environmental footprint, the design promotes greater sustainability in terms of both construction and lifestyle.”
