From Green Buildings to Healthy Buildings

The Press Café organised by Platform at Cersaie 2024 explored new approaches to healthcare architecture, emphasising the humanisation of healthcare spaces

(February 2025) | The Press Cafés held during Cersaie in Bologna each year provide a platform for in-depth discussions on design and architecture. Organised in collaboration with leading publishing houses, these events feature conversations between the editors of industry publications and experts and explore themes such as design, architecture, wellness and urban planning in relation to ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings.

Last September, Simona Finessi, co-founder of Platform, hosted Filippo Taidelli, Director of FTA | Filippo Taidelli Architetto, for a discussion entitled The Space of Care and the Care of Space. From Green Buildings to Healthy Buildings. Together, they explored new approaches to healthcare architecture, emphasising the role of design in enhancing the patient experience from both an aesthetic and functional perspective. The conversation highlighted the growing need to humanise healthcare spaces by considering patients’ overall well-being, including their psychological and social needs. Another key focus was the integration of natural elements such as light, greenery and ambient sounds to support the mental and physical well-being of both patients and staff. This innovative and transformative approach to healthcare design requires a combination of sustainable and healthy buildings, technology and humanisation.
