Raw materials, final thoughts
(December 2025) | “Raw materials, final thoughts: new alphabets in clay, wood and waste” was the theme of the CasaOggiDomani Press Café at Cersaie 2025.
The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Silvia Giacometti, welcomed Elisa Evaso (Monostudio Associati) and Luigi Di Mauro Morandi (Concepta Studio) for a conversation exploring the expressive and design potential of natural materials.
The two designers described an approach that starts with the material itself – natural, local or reclaimed – to generate new forms and new languages through empirical experimentation and material-led design. Topics included responsible recovery and reuse, the aesthetics of imperfection, the narrative power of materials, and the need for projects capable of evolving over time. The designers also emphasised our collective responsibility in managing resources and the importance of fostering a culture of reuse as an essential design practice today.
