The importance of the landscape for the workplace

At Cersaie 2025, the architecture magazine Domus hosted a conversation with landscape architect Margherita Brianza on the relationship between built space and landscape, with a particular focus on workplaces

(November 2025) | There is growing awareness, even outside specialist circles, of the importance of maintaining a connection with plants. We all came to realise this during lockdown and even more so through the increasingly hot summers of recent years. It is now clear that mitigation measures, which plants perform remarkably well, are essential not only in cities but also in specific settings such as workplaces, study environments and healthcare facilities.

In the case of workspaces, landscape can play an active role in shaping a brand’s identity, its attention to employee wellbeing and its stance on broader social and environmental issues.
