Waterfall House in Bangkok, an elegant private residence designed by architecture firm Greenbox Design Co. and interior designer Kaan Vanapruks, is aptly named, with water serving as both a physical and symbolic element. The project incorporates special material effects reminiscent of the surface of water, capturing its dynamic, constantly moving nature. Adopting a linear style and pure forms that skilfully alternate opaque and transparent surfaces, Waterfall House is built around a large central volume housing the main living functions, surrounded by green spaces and a large swimming pool on the building’s rearmost elevation. While the exterior envelope features an interesting juxtaposition of wooden and concrete surfaces, the interior envelope walls are entirely clad with a composition of small stone elements whose rough, three-dimensional textures evoke the natural ripples of water and, when viewed from below, the continuous flow of a waterfall. The lounge and other living spaces are located on the ground floor, dominated by large glazed surfaces that maximise the use of natural light. A staircase leads to the central volume of Waterfall House, whose upper levels host the master bedroom and guest rooms, all of which have bathroom areas designed as wellness spaces. The interiors feature extensive use of wood on the walls and ceilings, as well as the Reverso and Marmi Bianchi marble-effect porcelain tile collections from Ceramiche Coem. Reverso stands out for its natural textures that reflect the variability and beauty of natural stone along with outstanding technical characteristics and a highly versatile range of sizes. It reproduces the natural imperfections of the reverse side of travertine slabs with discreet surface designs in keeping with contemporary “raw” trends, enhancing the appeal of irregular surfaces with a touch of sophisticated elegance. Used on floors and walls in 60×60 cm and 60×120 cm sizes, the Reverso collection enhances the bright atmospheres of Waterfall House with its Natural and Ivory colour surfaces. By contrast, the Marmi Bianchi porcelain tile collection recreates the elegance and material look of marble, reinterpreting its timeless allure with subtle luminosity. Used here in a 75×75 cm size in the two versions Carrara Naturale and Carrara Lucidato, the Marmi Bianchi range brings a touch of sophistication to the bathroom along with the functionality and practicality of porcelain. Like all Ceramiche Coem collections, Reverso and Marmi Bianchi are produced using sustainable manufacturing processes, incorporating natural raw materials and significant quantities of recycled materials. They hold ISO 14001 and EMAS certifications and come with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) stating their environmental performance over their entire life cycle in compliance with the International Standard ISO 14025.
