Florim has renewed its B Corp certification, further confirming its solid commitment to sustainability across every aspect of its operations. B Corps are businesses certified by B Lab that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. As the first ceramic company in the world to earn this prestigious recognition back in 2020, Florim has now further improved its consolidated score, reaching 105.6 points, up significantly from 90.9 in 2020.
This overall score reflects the performance of both Florim SpA SB, which increased from 98.1 to 108 points, and its U.S. subsidiary, which successfully completed the certification process for the first time, achieving 95.8 points (up from 64.8 in 2020).
“This recognition strengthens our determination to pursue an ambitious path based on responsible innovation, people’s wellbeing, and respect for the planet, even in the face of today’s challenges. For us, sustainability is not a trend or a short-term strategy, but a long-term commitment that we have made public and transparent for over 17 years through our Sustainability Report,”
says chairman Claudio Lucchese.
The improved score is the result of cross-functional initiatives including stakeholder mapping and engagement, new employee training and welfare programs, and community-focused actions.
The company has also expanded the activities of its Health and Training Center, an in-house facility for advanced medical simulation, research, and prevention. In 11 years, over 6,300 people have received training through the center.
Florim has conducted a sustainability performance assessment of its suppliers and introduced a shared Code of Conduct across its supply chain. In terms of environmental responsibility, the company has launched a plan to measure and reduce emissions. Recent resource-optimization initiatives include: new tanks for rainwater recovery and reuse, thinner more sustainable product formats, increased use of renewable energy, electric trucks for logistics, plastic-free packaging for samples. Since 2011, the company has invested over €77 million in reducing its environmental impact. These efforts have enabled Florim to recover 100% of production waste to increase the recycled content of its collections, reuse 100% of wastewater from production, and produce up to 100% of the electricity it consumes internally.
B Corps are companies that use business as a force for good, working to transform the economic system and promote a regenerative economy. Since 2015, the number of certified B Corps has grown by over 540%, with more than 10,000 companies certified globally. Today, over 319,000 businesses are seeking certification, but only about 3% succeed.
Florim’s B Corp status complements its other process and product certifications, including ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 50001 (energy), and ISO 45001 (health and safety).
