Italian clay products: a material that is friendly to humans and the environment

Their specific characteristics include:

• • Zero emissions of dust or natural or man-made fibres

• Zero emissions of volatile or semi-volatile organic compounds, usually included within the definition of VOCs. Clay is an inert material that does not release any gaseous compounds.

• Absence of mould and fungal growth. Clay is a permeable material that prevents the formation of humidity.

• No harmful emissions in the event of fire: clay is an incombustible mineral material that does not release toxic fumes. Its high thermal inertia prevents the build-up of heat on the side not exposed to the fire, allowing occupants to safely evacuate the building.
