A success story in Haifa

Created through a merger between two of Israel’s leading distributors of building and home design products, one founded in the 1930s and the other in the 1970s, Topolski Rezef is based in the major port city of Haifa, Israel’s third largest city after Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

The company is a key partner for the country’s public and private building sectors and offers an extensive portfolio of exclusive products from some of the world’s top brands along with a high-quality design service and after-sales support.

Topolski Rezef was the recipient of the 2021 Confindustria Ceramica Distributor Award, which was presented during Cersaie in Bologna. To find out more about the company’s success story, we spoke to the owner Moshe Topolski.

When did you start up your business?

Topolski was founded as a family-run company back in 1978 and over the following period of more than forty years has established a leading position in the building supplies sector. In recent years, we decided to merge with another family-owned firm called Kramer, which shared our goal of becoming the largest and most dynamic distributor in northern Israel and the most innovative player at a national level.

How is your business organised?

We have a 2,500 square metre showroom located in the Redesign mall in Kiryat Ata. We have a wide range of different types of floor and wall coverings, including ceramics, parquet and natural stone, as well as bathroom fittings, sanitaryware, saunas, swimming pools and spa equipment. We offer exclusively high-level products and represent more than 80 leading manufacturers based in different countries.

When did you first encounter Italian tiles?

We began importing ceramic tiles in 1984 and right from the start focused on Italian products, which we consider to be the top of the range in terms of technological quality, style and design. As in many other sectors, Italian-made products set trends and deliver genuine innovation.

How many employees do you have?

We have around 160 employees, many of whom have a long experience working in the industry. We ensure they are kept constantly up to date with the latest trends and developments by sending them to design and technology exhibitions all over the world. Thanks to their expertise and in-depth knowledge of materials, we are able to offer a comprehensive and high-quality service covering everything from design to on-site consultations. We devote special attention to after-sales service. Our customers can obtain all the information they need about the characteristics of the floor or wall coverings and their maintenance, see detailed simulations of the end result and make informed choices without the risk of unpleasant surprises.

How is your showroom organised?

Our showroom is based on an innovative design concept, with spaces created by qualified designers. We change our exhibits frequently so as to offer our customers all the latest new products and provide an up-to-date picture of everything that our international brands have to offer.

What is the state of the construction market in Israel?

The industry is experiencing a real boom, especially in the private building sector, so we are seeing a huge increase in demand for both premium and standard quality ceramic tiles. We sell to both the residential and commercial sectors.

What is your total turnover and what is the share held by ceramic tiles?

In 2020 we posted a turnover of €50 million, 75% of which was generated by sales of ceramic tiles.
