The new headquarters of Curasept, an Italian and international leader in the chemical and mechanical oral hygiene, was designed to convey the company’s image and philosophy, with a focus on a sustainable future and employee well-being. The client was looking for statement spaces and a design that would inspire positive emotions and encourage cooperation.

The project, which involved the conversion of an 850-square-metre building, was entrusted to architect Ilaria Pagni of Florence-based practice IDp Studio Architecture Interior Design, who adopted what she describes as “a site-specific, sustainability-oriented philosophy, where bespoke materials and furnishings are created with sartorial precision and a focus on technology”.

The shapes were inspired by the company logo and the geometric figure of the hexagon, while the colours echo those of Curasept mouthwashes, toothbrushes and packaging. The use of high-quality materials was a priority, with tiles and mosaics playing a crucial role. “I always choose Italian tiles or mosaics for their quality and durability, and because they allow me to create unique environments,” notes Pagni, adding that she was “impressed by the fact that all of the Bardelli Group’s packaging is made from natural, recyclable materials”.

One of her primary goals was to achieve sustainability across building systems, production processes and waste management. For example, rather than dismantling the existing steel staircase connecting the three floors, she gave it a new identity and turned it into a signature feature.

The steps and new balustrade were clad in Appiani’s Denim mosaic, while the walls were decorated with Bardelli’s Volume 2 and Cromia 2 collections, accented by stabilised greenery. The staircase structure itself was painted in RAL 5024 pastel blue, the leitmotif of the entire project.

The bathrooms were designed to be elegant, welcoming sanctuaries furnished with distinctive elements such as custom Appiani mosaics in a mixture of colours inspired by the Curasept palette. Bardelli decorative tiles also feature in the dining area, enhanced by the colours of the furnishings and the stabilised green walls.

The same decorations form the backdrop for the Working Boxes – custom-designed like many of the high-end furnishings – transforming simple plasterboard into a distinctive feature. “The basement was reimagined as a series of communal areas such as the Corner Lunch, the Book Coffee and the Style Centre, the central hub of creativity and innovation together with the research and marketing offices,” says Pagni. Here, the colour RAL 5024 again takes centre stage, while bespoke Appiani mosaics were used for the Book Coffee, envisioned by the client as a space for creative thinking.
