FIMA Carlo Frattini is a leading Italian brand in the high-end taps and fittings sector renowned for its ability to combine a solid manufacturing tradition with technological innovation, quality and a contemporary design vision. The collections developed at the company’s headquarters in Briga Novarese (Novara) provide a perfect balance between form and function. By collaborating with internationally renowned designers, FIMA offers solutions aligned with the latest trends in architecture and interior design.
Founded in 1960, the company has gradually expanded its presence in domestic and international markets, pursuing a strategy focused on sustainability, applied research and production growth. This journey led to the expansion of the production site in Briga Novarese (Novara) with the construction of the new FIMA 2 plant. Designed by Federico Fiorindo, the new facility marks a milestone in the company’s commitment to growth and innovation.
With the addition of the new 3,000 m² extension, the industrial site now covers a total area of 20,000 m², with over 140 employees and a daily output of more than 2,000 units. The new facility seamlessly integrates production, research and display areas. Turning, polishing, chrome-plating and automated assembly departments, together with an automated high-bay warehouse and a high-tech shipping department, serve to optimise internal logistics and supply chain management. A new 400-square-metre new showroom allows visitors to view and test the taps and fittings, while a dedicated outdoor area showcases the premium exterior range using a lighting system that simulates the natural day-night cycle.
Located at the heart of the factory is FIMA Lab, the new R&D hub designed in accordance with the “Thinking Room” philosophy. Modern, minimalist offices and multipurpose spaces encourage collaboration between design teams. Transparent glass partitions between workstations maintain visual continuity and an open-plan layout without sacrificing privacy. Lighting was a major priority. Natural light floods in through the large skylights, complemented by linear track spotlights which create a diffused, uniform atmosphere. The ergonomic, minimalist furnishings are set against light-coloured flooring that harmonises with the neutral tones of the walls, creating elegant yet functional spaces that are fully aligned with the company’s identity and values.
Material selection played a strategic role in defining FIMA Lab’s modern identity. The Side Stone collection from LEA Ceramiche was chosen for the floors in a 60×60 cm size and Cluster Mid and Cluster Light shades. The total 1,071 m² surface was installed using a combination of traditional and floating systems. The collection offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Ceppo di Gré, a traditional grey-blue stone from Lombardy, with surfaces that are durable, elegant and easily integrated into executive and commercial spaces.
