With a more than 600 square metre space devoted to wellbeing, including an indoor pool, sauna area, relaxation room and an outdoor terrace overlooking the Rhine and the Vosges mountains, the Liquidium Boutique Spa is the exclusive wellness centre of Hotel Stadt Breisach, one of Baden-Württemberg’s leading hospitality destinations. Perched on the historic Münsterberg hill in Breisach am Rhein, the hotel welcomes its guests into a soft, inviting atmosphere.

The hotel’s original design blends contemporary elements with clear references to the local architectural tradition. The complex consists of three separate volumes, one of which faces directly onto the hillside, connected by internal passageways leading from the central lobby to the rooms and facilities, including a restaurant, lounge bar, beauty centre, conference room and spa.

The hotel’s ground floor is almost entirely glazed, with exposed steel structural elements framing large windows that open onto the surrounding landscape. This level also features a large outdoor area culminating in a panoramic terrace, while a buttress of local stone anchors the building firmly into the terrain. The upper levels – three storeys in the main volume and two in the annexes – are enveloped by a sloping roof clad with shingles, a clear reference to one of the region’s most distinctive architectural features.

The interiors are elegant and contemporary while avoiding excess minimalism, with a choice of materials that adds warmth and intimacy. In the common areas, honey-toned timber mouldings, panelling, ceilings, fabrics and upholstered elements come together to create a refined, welcoming palette. The guest rooms make even greater use of wood, which was chosen in a variety of shades carefully coordinated with other surfaces and finishes.

But the real highlight of Hotel Stadt Breisach is the Liquidium Boutique Spa, a multifunctional wellness area centred around a 6×10 metre indoor pool. Atmospheric accent lighting and the choice of tiles from Ceramica Fioranese’s Frammenta collection to clad the entire swimming pool area further enhance the design. Chosen in the colour Antracite and 30×60 cm and 60×60 cm sizes, Frammenta reinterprets Ceppo di Gré stone, a material widely used in Milanese architecture, in a textured porcelain stoneware version with natural and polished finishes. The same collection was used in the relaxation room, showers and sauna floor to create a cohesive, elegant design.
