The Italian fashion company named after its founder Brunello Cucinelli is renowned for the production of fine cashmere knitwear. Originally founded in the village of Solomeo outside Perugia, a mediaeval hamlet that Cucinelli has been restoring for more than 30 years, the company is now one of the leading international players in the luxury clothing sector with « total look » men and womenswear collections and a global network of brand boutiques.
The latest of these – the prestigious New York boutique located in the exclusive setting of 5th Avenue in the heart of Manhattan – joins the other New York stores where Brunello Cucinelli displays the brand’s globally renowned qualities, including expertise and craftsmanship, business acumen, research and a passion for beauty, art and tradition.
The boutique has an airy, contemporary feel and a clean, modern design enhanced by a choice of natural materials and warm colours inspired by the company’s headquarters in Solomeo. The pale walls and white floors contrast with the splendid Umbrian wood windows and the steel lighting fixtures.
The elegant boutique also has a terrace which offers a panoramic view of the skyscrapers of Manhattan and paved with ceramic tiles from Casa dolce casa – Casamood (Made in Florim).
The porcelain slabs from the Icon Outdoor series, chosen here in a 60×60 cm size, have been used to cover the approximately 150 square metre floor. The Light Gray colour coordinates effectively with the furnishing elements, the other materials and the location. The stripped wood-effect surface finish creates a pleasant sense of continuity between the interior and exterior. Produced in three colours and 60×60 cm and 40×120 cm sizes, Icon Outdoor is a tough, durable and low-maintenance design solution for self-supporting 2 cm thick floors without the need for screed, thereby ensuring significant savings in terms of loads, costs and labour. Suitable for exteriors in both private spaces and high-traffic areas, the slabs were installed in a few simple steps without the use of adhesive or grout. Mounted on fixed or adjustable feet, the floor is ready to use immediately and is fully inspectable and removable. The open joints also allow rainwater to flow away.
Consisting of more than 70% recycled materials, the collection is certified by the Bureau Veritas certification agency in accordance with the international standard ISO 14021. In keeping with the green policies adopted by the company in recent years, Icon Outdoor – like all Florim products – is based on a production process that does not release water to the environment, instead reusing it in the production process.
