Located in the old town centre of Arco between Lake Garda and the mountains, Hotel Pace was founded in the early 1950s as a small family-run establishment with just 4 rooms. It grew over the following years as the owners purchased additional buildings set within the closely-knit urban context, creating a structure with a complex plan and elevation made up of a number of different sections of varying heights. In recent years, it became necessary to adapt the hotel to the needs of today’s users and the philosophy of contemporary hospitality in general. The renovation project was carried out in two stages in 2016 and 2018, each lasting just two months, with the aim of providing a high-quality experience and efficient services while maintaining close links with the local area.
The splendid natural landscape surrounding Arco is the ideal destination for active sports and nature holidays, so guests look for accommodation where they can rest and relax after the day’s exertions and enjoy a break from their sports activities. For this reason, the owners decided to reduce the number of rooms from the original 45 to just 32 while at the same time considerably enlarging the size of the relaxation areas and bathrooms. Some rooms have a floor space as large as 35 square metres, including entrance areas and lounges, almost mini-apartments with a home-from-home feel.
The owners wanted to create friendly, informal spaces that at the same time would be well-designed, spacious and comfortable. The interior design project opted for soft colours for the walls, ceilings, furnishing elements and lighting fixtures, creating a pale-coloured background that makes the rooms appear even larger, brighter and more relaxing. The furniture was also carefully selected, with a preference for well-known brands arranged to ensure both elegance and practicality. Focus walls were created by using wallpaper with striking graphic effects. For the floors, the owners would have preferred a natural local material such as wood, but given the importance of strength and durability as well as beauty and design, they opted for a wood-look ceramic floor tile. Large 20×120 cm oak and rosewood effect porcelain planks were laid on the floor in a staggered pattern. The two collections Habita and Signum from Coem recreate the warm, natural and harmonious look of the different types of woods, maintaining a sense of tradition while embracing contemporary design. The Essential collection (colour Noce) from the company Fioranese was chosen for other suites, the warm colours of the wood-look slabs rendered even more natural by a special translucent effect that recreates the surface veins with brilliant clarity. A variety of colours from the Evoke series inspired by cementitious surfaces were chosen for the walls.
The newly renovated hotel has a strong personality and makes guests feel at home in a warm, well-designed environment, a peaceful haven where they can enjoy a well-earned rest after a hard but exhilarating day in the great outdoors.
